Canelo vs GGG 3 match Preview

In 2005, Canelo made his debut as a professional fighter. Canelo is a champion in four different weight classes, and he boasts a list of victories that reads like a who’s who of boxers, including Shane Mosley, Josesito Lopez, Miguel Cotto, and Amir Khan. Canelo has compiled a record of 15-1-1 since his defeat to Floyd Mayweather in 2013. After just 11 months of competition, Canelo was able to unify the super-middleweight class. His most recent victory came in November of last year when he defeated IBF super-middleweight champion Caleb Plant.

Canelo Alvarez made just his second attempt at winning a championship in the light-heavyweight division in May of this year. Facing Dmitry Bivol, Canelo lost by unanimous decision.

Golovkin made his pro debut in 2006. He won the WBA middleweight title in 2010 (first as the interim champion, then as the legitimate champion) and the IBO middleweight title in 2011. Before taking on Canelo, the reigning middleweight champion had victories over notable names like as David Lemieux, Kell Brook, and Daniel Jacobs.

Since the start of 2019, Golovkin has amassed four consecutive victories. In 2019, he defeated Sergiy Derevyanchenko, who was fighting in the middleweight division, and won the IBF and IBO belts. In April, Golovkin returned to the ring for the first time in two years to fight Ryota Murata. Golovkin earned the WBA (Super) middleweight belt with his victory via technical knockout in the ninth round.

Canelo vs GGG 3 Prediction Today

Golovkin’s size advantage against Alvarez, a former junior middleweight who is now fighting at super middleweight, has been erased by Alvarez’s meteoric jump in weight.

GGG’s only chance of winning is to go all-in for the knockout. Especially considering Alvarez’s similarly resolute chin, no. To slow down his opponent, though, he’ll need to go into the clinch and fight as physically as he ever has, and he’ll need to have an eagerness that hasn’t been present late in his greatest (and closest) bouts previously.

In order to gauge how much energy GGG still has, Alvarez will likely start the fight slowly yet effectively. But once he adjusts to come forward as Alvarez did in the rematch, it’s probable he’ll weaken Golovkin to the body late while walking him down.

It’s hardly surprising that the fight went the distance; Golovkin is a proud man who has amazing punch resistance. But Golovkin’s true prospects are nothing to sneeze at. A second consecutive decision defeat seems probable unless he is ready to drastically modify his game to combat his physical deterioration and take gambles in ways we haven’t seen before.

Pick: Alvarez will win the fight.
