There are many names that can be thrown around in basketball’s greatest ever (GOAT) discussion, and many ways to determine the correct answer. Ever since LeBron James was considered The Chosen One, there has been debate over whether he could surpass Michael Jordan as the greatest of all time. LeBron grew up idolizing MJ. He dressed like him, wore shoes and studied his style of play. Once he joined the league, he also donned the number 23.

LeBron recently appeared in his eighth NBA Finals series in 2018. He has ten total and now has a record of 4-6. Jordan, as we all know, has six rings in six appearances. Often times, the ring argument is what puts MJ ahead of LeBron in the debate over who is the GOAT. However, the rings should not carry that much weight. If they do, the greatest player of all time will be Bill Russell, who won 11 championships in his 13-year career.

Jordan, who spent his final playing years representing the Washington Wizards, was also crowned the National Basketball Association MVP five times, as well as Defensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year. He averaged a phenomenal 30.1 points per game in his career, winning ten scoring titles.
