Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league competing in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The league was formed in 2016 by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). It is played by eight teams representing eight districts of Tamil Nadu in July and August every year. Sriram is the current sponsor of the group tournament.
The first season was inaugurated by former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni. Then it was Tutti Patriots who won. TNPL has had four seasons. The current champion, Chepauk Super Gillies, is the most successful team since winning the title in 2017 and 2022. In 2022, two franchises were charged with match-fixing that resulted in the removal of the co-owners of one franchise. However, both franchises were intact in the league. It is one of the regional cricket premier leagues in India.
Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) Match Format
TNPL 2022 will have 322 matches in 2 days. Each of the eight teams will play in the round robin stage with each team in the tournament. The best teams in the points table will qualify for the playoffs. The top 2 teams will face each other in Qualifier 1 on 10 August 2022 and the winner will advance to the final. The third and fourth place teams will meet in the eliminator on August 11, 2022. The Eliminator winner will play against the losing qualifier in Qualifier 2 on 13 August 2022. The winner of Qualifier 2 will play the winner of Qualifier 1 on 15 August 2022.
TNPL Team Name
There are eight franchises competing in league. The franchises are named after a district it is representing in the state. Each team can have a maximum of 22 players that includes two outstation players. In 2022, One of the franchise changed their name and base VB Kanchi Veerans of Kancheepuram shifted to Tirunelveli featuring as Nellai Royal Kings.

The prize money split between the teams are:
- Champions – 1 crore (US$140,000)
- Runner up – 60 lakh (US$84,000)
- Two semi-finalists – 40 lakh (US$56,000) each
- Remaining participants – 25 lakh (US$35,000)
