Stephen Hawking Biography, Net Worth, Age, Wife, Movie, Facts & Achievement. Stephen William Hawking CH CBE FRS FRSA was an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author who were director of research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology at the University of Cambridge at the time of his death. He was the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge between 1979 and 2009. Stephen Hawking was a scientist who worked on black holes and relativity and authored a popular science book, A Brief History of Time. Stephen Hawking has worked on the physics of black holes. He suggested that black holes emit subtomic particles until they finally exploded. He also wrote the best-selling book.

Stephen Hawking Biography

Stephen Hawking is the most famous physicist after Albert Einstein. Her decades-long struggle with ALS has fascinated both the public and her colleagues in science. With her single brilliance as a cosmopolitan. In this interestingly written biography. Christine Larsen, a physicist and astronomer herself, presents a clear and insightful portrait of Hawking’s personal and professional life. Avoiding the occasional hero-worship found in Hawking’s popular works. Larsen emphasizes that Hawking was first and foremost a scientist whose work made important contributions to our understanding of the nature and origin of the universe.

Written in non-technical language for the general reader. Larsen clearly explains Hawking’s complex scientific achievements while telling the story of his challenging life. The impact of ALS on his career and personal life; His groundbreaking work on black hole radiation; His next sophisticated theory of black holes, cosmology and ethnographic principles; The Amazing Publishing Success of A Brief History of Time; And his status as a pop icon and spokesman for the reciprocity of science and society. Larsen reviews Hawking’s occasional controversial work in the context of a review of scientific colleagues. And a wide range of public debates, and discusses his personal life with compassion, respect, and honesty.

Who Was Stephen Hawking?

Stephen Hawking was a British scientist, professor and author who pioneered physics and cosmology and whose books helped make science accessible to all. At age 21, while studying cosmology at Cambridge University, he contracted amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Parts of his life story were illustrated in 2014’s The Theory of Everything. Lets know about Stephen Hawking Biography.

Stephen Hawking Early & Childhood Career

It is a strange fact that Stephen William Hawking was born on January 8, 1942, exactly 300 years after the death of the Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei. Perhaps this seems to be an appropriate adjustment. Often referred to as the ‘father of observational astronomy’, Galileo was one of Stephen’s inspiration during his long career as a theoretical physicist and cosmologist. Stephen was born in Oxford during World War II, the eldest of four children by parents Frank Hawking and Eileen Isobel Hawking. With his siblings, Stephen spent a happy childhood, mostly in Highgate, London, and then in St. Albans, Hertfordshire. Stephen admitted to being a late developer and recalled that he was not more than half of the class at St. Albans School.

Stephen Hawking Education

Early in his academic life, Hawking, recognized as brilliant, he was not an exceptional student. During her first year at St. Albans School, she was third from the bottom of her class. But Hawking concentrated on pursuit outside of school; He loved board games, and he and a few close friends created their own new games. As a teenager, Hawking, along with several friends, built a computer of recycled parts to solve basic mathematical equations.

Hawking entered University College at Oxford University at the age of 17. Although he expressed a desire to study mathematics, Oxford did not award a degree for that specialty, so Hawking was attracted to physics, and especially cosmology. In 1979, Hawking found himself back at Cambridge University, where Lucasian, a 1663 professor of mathematics, had his name in one of the most famous positions in education.

Stephen Hawking Wife & Children

At a New Year’s party in 1963, Hawking met Jane Wilde, a young language graduate. They were married in 1965. The couple gave birth to a son Robert in 17 and a daughter Lucy in daughter. The third child, Timothy, came in 1979. Hawking left his wife Jane in 1990 for one of his nurses, Elaine Mason. The two were married in 1995. The marriage put pressure on Hawking’s relationship with his own children, who claimed that Ellen had taken their father away from them. In 2003, nurses caring for Hawking reported their suspicions to police that Ellen was physically abusing her husband. Hawking denied the allegations and the police investigation was closed. In 2006, Hawking and Ellen filed for divorce.

Graduation From Oxford & Cambridge University

Somewhat reluctantly, Stephen agreed to apply to his father’s college, University College, Oxford. Stephen wanted to study mathematics but his father, Dr. Frank Hawking, a tropical medicine expert, was adamant that there would be no jobs for mathematicians and that Stephen should study medicine. They compromised with the natural sciences and in 1959 Stephen moved to Oxford at the age of 17. Despite demanding very little work, Stephen performed well enough in his written exams to determine what class of viva (interview) degree he should take Stephen told the examiners that he would leave Oxford and move to Cambridge if they offered him a first class degree. Will go but if he gets second he will stay in Oxford. They duly gave him the first, of course, he hoped they would. Stephen visited Trinity Hall in Cambridge in 1962.

Stephen Hawking Awards and honours

Hawking has received numerous awards and honors. Already at the top of the list, in 1974 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS). At this time his nomination fell. The quote continues, “Hawking’s other important work relates to the interpretation of cosmic observations and the design of gravitational wave detectors.” Hawking received the 2015 BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award for sharing basic science with Vyacheslav Mukhanov, who discovered that galaxies were formed from quantum fluctuations in the early part of the universe. At the 2016 Pride of Britain Awards, Hawking received the Lifetime Achievement Award for “Contribution to Science and British Culture”. After receiving the award from Prime Minister Theresa May, Hawking jokingly requested that she not seek his help with Brexit.

Stephen Hawking Death

Hawking died on 14 March 2018 at his home in Cambridge at the age of 76. His family said he “died peacefully”. He was acclaimed by statistics in science, entertainment, politics and other fields. The flags of Gonville and Kayas College were flown at half-mast and a book of condolences was signed by students and visitors. Hawking was honored in a closing speech by IPC President Andrew Parsons at the closing ceremony of the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games in Pyongyang, South Korea.

His memorial is engraved on the stone “What was Stephen Hawking’s mortal of 1942-2018” and his most famous equation. He indicated at least fifteen years before his death that the Beckenstein-Hawking entropy equation would be his epitaph. In June 2018, it was announced that Hawking’s words, set to the music of Greek composer Vangelis, would be sent into space from Spain’s European Space Agency satellite dish, with the aim of reaching the nearest black hole, 1A 0620-00.
