Bangladesh are now touring New Zealand for the limited-overs international series that will run between 20th March and 1st April 2022. It is their first New Zealand tour since early 2022 when their tour was finished without playing the final Test due to Christchurch mosque shootings.
In this latest tour, Bangladesh will play a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series against the hosts New Zealand. The ODI series will be part of the 2022–23 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. While it will be New Zealand’s first-ever ODI series under the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup Super League, Bangladesh will play their second ODI series in the inaugural ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
About Bangladesh Cricket Team
The Bangladesh men’s national cricket team popularly known as The Tigers, is administered by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). It is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test, One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) status. It played its first Test match in November 2000 against India in Dhaka, becoming the tenth Test-playing nation.
Bangladesh’s first official foray into international cricket came in the 1979 ICC Trophy in England. On 31 March 1986, Bangladesh played its first ODI match, against Pakistan in the Asia Cup. Bangladesh made its full debut in international cricket in the 1986 Asia Cup. In 1997, Bangladesh won the ICC Trophy in Malaysia and thus qualified for its first Cricket World Cup to participate in England in 1999. On 26 June 2000, Bangladesh was granted full ICC membership.
About New Zealand Cricket Team
The New Zealand national cricket team represents New Zealand in men’s international cricket. Nicknamed the Blackcaps, they played their first Test in 1930 against England in Christchurch, becoming the fifth country to play Test cricket. From 1930 New Zealand had to wait until 1956, more than 26 years, for its first Test victory, against the West Indies at Eden Park in Auckland. They played their first ODI in the 1972–73 season against Pakistan in Christchurch.
The current captain in all formats of the game is Kane Williamson, who replaced Brendon McCullum after the latter’s retirement in December 2015. The national team is organized by New Zealand Cricket.The New Zealand cricket team became known as the Blackcaps in January 1998, after its sponsor at the time, Clear Communications, held a competition to choose a name for the team.[14] This is one of many national team nicknames related to the All Blacks.
